The premise: Instead of moving your stuff into storage, load it into a 42' trailer and have them hold it while your house is being built.
The problem:
- Driving. Because they charge you a flat $60 hour to deliver and pickup the trailer, they are indifferent as to when they drivers are on the clock. Therefore, they'll send you driver during rush hour traffic instead of a non-peak time. Furthermore, they're drivers are free to get lost, fill up the truck, hang-out at McDonald's etc., all on your dime. $60 per hour is the rule, it doesn't matter if you can make the drive in 45 minutes, you may be billed for 2.5 hours.
- Truck. The truck you doesn't have a place for the ramp, so when you're done packing all of your stuff into the ramp, you may be unpacking it, so you can load the 20' 3-ton (hyperbole) ramp into the trailer. The alternative is to let the driver strap it down, but they will likely take him an hour to strap it on and an hour to unstrap it, so plan on shelling out another $120.
- Billing. If the driver quotes you one figure, the office won't honor it. Therefore, the invoice you'll be given is much lower than the one that you're charge. Shady? I think so.
- Care. If you want someone that will give a hoot, may I suggest another group because you are the least important person they'll run into during that day.
Conclusion: Don't gamble on a company that hasn't upgraded anything if 30 years (bald tires, rusted trailers, paper billing, ornery secretary, no web-presence), if they cared about you they would have done these things. Instead they're milking every last red dime out of you.
